Lacklustre trade continues...

The markets continue to exhibit lacklustre movement. The Sensex is now at 17,482, up 18 points and the Nifty is two points down at 5,231.

Among the Sensex-30 stocks, Reliance Communications and Jaiprakash Associates have gained 2% each at Rs 190 and Rs 128, respectively on the BSE.

The other major gainers are Tata Power, ONGC, ICICI Bank and Mahindra & Mahindra, up 1% each.

While HUL and Wipro are down 1.5% each at Rs 252 and Rs 405, respectively on the BSE

The market breadth is positive, out of 2,354 shares traded, 1,345 have advanced and 921 have declined so far on the BSE.

The BSE midcap and the smallcap indices are up 0.5% each.

Oil&gas is the major sectoral gainer, up 1% each at 10,406. Reliance Industries and BPCL have added 1.5% at 1,073 and 541, respectively.

Essar Ship Ports and MTNL have soared 6% to Rs 90 and Rs 65, respectively on the midcap index.

Ramsarup Industries and Gokaldas Expo have rallied over 10% each to Rs 81 and Rs 161, respectively on the smallcap index.
