After global IT czars making a beeline for India with their mega plans, it is the turn of the commodities market. Larry Williams, the US-based legendary global commodities, treasury bonds and currencies trader, is set to debut in India. |
Plans are afoot to set up his first trading training centre in Bangalore and, further down the line, one might get to see him trading in Indian commodities markets in one form or the other . |
Larry Williams, acknowledged to be a person who has spread through personal example the idea of building long term profits through short term trading, will be visiting India over the coming weekend to assess the markets here and hold high level meetings with brokerages. |
He is also expected to announce the Bangalore training institute. |
Williams, is among the key global indicators for commodities trading. It is a momentum indicator, especially popular for measuring overbought and oversold levels. |
Said Rajesh Sharma, director, Larry Williams Institute India: "This is the first ever institute of Larry Williams anywhere in the world. In his 35-year trading experience, he has spread his techniques across the globe through various workshops. This training institute will have experts in his trading method coming and imparting the techniques. To start with, we are planning to get the man himself to kick off this institute." |
Elaborating on Larry Williams' plans in India, Sharma said: "The Indian economy is witnessing an unprecedented boom and a majority of the global population is in Asia. This is also driving the consumption which is having a positive cascading effect on commodities trading." |
For example, the Multi-Commodity Exchange pact with the London Metal Exchange is a sign of the growing importance of the Indian markets. |
"Larry Williams might be interested in crude oil and gold trading out of India, besides a couple others." |
He is interested in high volume markets as he considers low volumes uneffective. |
Larry Williams' interest in India is expected to have an impact on global majors. "GenesisFT.com, a firm which specialises in providing traders with data and analysis tools, and Alaron, a major trading house, are also looking at starting Indian operations after Larry Williams has shown interest. This will have long term positive implications for professionalisation of trading in India," Sharma noted. |
As a precursor to all these activities, Larry Williams will be holding a two-day workshop in Mumbai on the theme of 'Long Term Secrets to Short Term Trading' during February 2006. |
"We are planning one more event of his, 'Million Dollar Challenge', in India through which the Indian trading audience will get a ringside view of Larry Williams trading live using his techniques and making a good deal," added Sharma. |
