Lead traded lower by Rs 0.30, or 0.38 per cent to Rs 77.80 per kg in futures trade, as traders reduced their positions, triggered by weak demand for the metal at spot markets.
However, overnight gains in lead and other base metals at the London Metal Exchange, restricted losses in futures trade here.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, lead for June contract edged lower by Rs 0.30, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 77.80 per kg, with an open interest of 10,166 lots.
The metal for delivery in July contract also traded lower by Rs 0.30, or 0.38 per cent, at Rs 78.95 per kg, with a turnover of 1,143 lots.
Analysts said subdued spot demand put pressure on lead futures prices but overnight gains in metal at the London Metal Exchange, capped losses.
Meanwhile, lead traded 3.11 per cent higher at $1,660 per tonne.
