Lead down 0.6% on subdued spot demand, overseas trend

Metal for delivery in May shed 0.52%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Lead prices eased by 0.64% to Rs 124.85 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions on weakness in base metals overseas and subdued domestic spot demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in June fell by 80 paise, or 0.64%, to Rs 124.85 per kg in a business turnover of 133 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in May shed 65 paise, or 0.52%, to Rs 123.70 per kg in 526 lots.

Marketmen said the fall in lead futures was due to a subdued demand in domestic markets and a weakening trend in base metals pack at the London Metal Exchange on speculation that demand in China, the biggest consumer of metals, will slow.
