Lead down 1% on weak demand, global cues

Lead for delivery in July traded lower by 1.04%

Lead prices moved down by Rs 1.30 to Rs 118.45 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced their positions, tracking a weak trend at spot market on subdued demand in the spot market amid a weak global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in June moved down by Rs 1.30, or 1.09%, to Rs 118.45 per kg in business turnover of 4,779 lots.

Similarly, lead for delivery in July traded lower by Rs 1.24, or 1.04%, to Rs 119.15 per kg in 612 lots.

Market analysts said speculators reduced their holdings on the back of sluggish demand in the spot market amid a weak global trend mainly kept pressure on lead prices at futures trade.
 
Meanwhile, lead declined 0.2% to $1,991.50 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
