Lead futures down 1.56% in thin trade

Amid weak trend at the London Metal Exchange (LME) and subdued spot market demand, lead futures prices today fell by 1.56 per cent to Rs 110.35 per kg.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, lead for January delivery fell by 75 paise, or 1.56 per cent, to Rs 110.35 per kg, with a business turnover of 1,914 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in February, shed 60 paise, or 1.44 per cent, to Rs 109.80 per kg, with a business turnover of 327 lots.

Market analysts said weakness in copper and other base metals in overseas markets and fall in demand from battery makers, weighed on the lead futures prices here.

Meanwhile, lead futures prices fell by 0.8 per cent to $2,386 per tonne at the LME.
