Lead futures traded 0.61 per cent higher to Rs 114.65 per kg today, as speculators indulged in covering up their pending positions, driven by firming spot demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, lead futures for November delivery rose by 70 paise, or 0.61 per cent, to Rs 114.65 per kg, with a business turnover of five lots.

Lead futures for October contract delivery also gained 60 paise, or 0.53 per cent, to Rs 113.65 per kg, with a turnover of eight lots.

Analysts said apart from covering-up of short positions by speculators in view of approaching monthly expiry, firming trend in base metals overseas at the domestic spot markets, pushed up lead futures prices here.
