Tracking a weak global trend, lead futures prices today fell sharply by Rs 2.45 or 2.23 per cent to Rs 107.50 per kg.

Subdued demand at domestic markets from battery makers also put pressure on the lead futures prices here.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, lead for February delivery fell by Rs 2.45, or 2.23 per cent, to Rs 107.50 per kg, with a business turnover of two lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in December, shed Rs 1.20, or 1.03 per cent to Rs 105.60 per kg, with a trade volume of 1,430 lots, while delivery in January contract down by Rs 1.05, or 0.98 per cent to Rs 106.55 per kg, with a turnover of 109 lots.

Analysts said apart from a weak trend at the London Metal Exchange (LME), fall in demand at spot markets here, mainly attributed to the fall in lead futures prices here.
