Lead futures rise 1.07% on spot demand

Lead prices gained Rs 0.85 or 1.07 per cent to Rs 80.65 per kg in futures market today on good demand at spot markets.

Increased demand from the battery makers fuelled the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in July contract rose Rs 0.85, or 1.07 per cent to Rs 80.65 per kg, with an open interest of 1,157 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in June contract edged up by Rs 0.80, or 1.02 per cent to Rs 79.45 per kg, with a trading volume of 8,720 lots.

Marketmen said firm demand at spot markets pushed up lead prices at futures market.
