Lead prices inched up by 0.51 per cent to Rs 117.20 per kg in futures market today on fresh buying by traders on hopes of a rise in demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, lead for delivery in March inched up by 60 paise, or 0.51 per cent, to Rs 117.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 10 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in February-contract edged up by 45 paise, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 117.35 per kg, with an open interest of seven lots.

Market analysts said besides strong demand at the spot market on pick-up in demand from battery makers, firming trend in other base metals also supported the upside in lead futures prices here.
