Lead gains on strong physical market demand

Lead strengthened by Rs 0.45, or 0.44 per cent, at Rs 102.25 per kg in futures trade today as speculators indulged in creating fresh positions driven by strong demand at the physical market.

Firming global cues also supported the hike in lead futures prices here.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in August contracts moved up by Rs 0.45, or 0.44 per cent, to Rs 102.25 per kg in a turnover of 8,361 lots.

Lead for delivery in September contract also traded Rs 0.35 up, or 0.34 per cent higher at Rs 103.20 per kg, clocking a turnover of 477 lots.

 

Analysts said apart from strong demand from batter makers and other users, firming trend overseas after strong US economic data also influenced lead prices at the futures market here.
