Lead remains firm in futures trade, up 0.45%

Lead, mostly used by battery makers, remained firm in futures trade today on firm demand in the physical markets and gained 0.45 per cent to Rs 103.05 per kg.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, the September contract of lead traded 45 paise, or 0.45 per cent higher, at Rs 103.055 per kg, with a turnover of 4,933 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in October contract gained 45 paise, or 0.43 per cent, to trade higher at Rs 104 per kg, with a business turnover of 449 lots.

Analysts said apart from spot demand, sentiment also buoyed after the London Metal Exchange-Index of six metals, including copper jumped 1.8 per cent yesterday on optimism that the strength of the global economy will boost demand.
