Lead prices were up by 0.50% to Rs 101.10 per kg in futures trade today, largely in tandem with a firming trend in overseas markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the February contract for lead traded higher by 50 paise, or 0.50%, to Rs 101.10 per kg in business turnover of 872 lots.

The March contract inched up by 45 paise, or 0.44% to Rs 102.75 per kg in trading of 37 lots.

Analysts said besides pick up in demand from battery makers in the spot market, firming trend in base metals in overseas markets, also gave push to lead prices at futures trade.

Lead climbed 1.6% to $2,083 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
