Lead up 0.5% on spot demand

Metal for delivery in July contract edged up by 0.38%

Lead prices rose by 0.45% to Rs 132.85 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in August moved up by 60 paise, or 0.45%, to Rs 132.85 per kg in business turnover of 54 lots.

The metal for delivery in July contract edged up by 50 paise, or 0.38%, to Rs 131.85 per kg in 848 lots.

Analysts attributed rise in lead futures to speculative positions by participants driven by rising demand from battery-makers.
