M & M, Itc Finish Higher

The Instanex Skindia DR Index, which tracks 15 actively-traded Indian depository receipts, was trading 1.67 per cent higher at 500.49 at 5 pm IST on Friday.

Of the 15 Indian global depository receipts (GDRs), 7 gained and one declined, while 54 others remained unchanged.

The GDR of Mahindra & Mahindra surged 4.63 per cent to $2.26, while ITC rose 2.52 per cent to $13.43. State Bank of India also edged up 1.82 per cent to $14.56.

However, Ranbaxy Laboratories shed 3.16 per cent to $13.80.

On Thursday, the ISDI rallied 2.55 per cent to close at 501.13. The ISDI P/E ratio also rose 2.55 per cent to 10.65.

 

Meanwhile, Indian securities listed on US exchanges also advanced on Thursday. Infy, the Infosys Tech ADR, jumped $2.99 to $63.90. Wit, the Wipro ADR rose $1.31 to $29.66 and Say, the Satyam Computer ADR gained 35 cents to $15.37.

Among Internet stocks, Sify, the Satyam Infoway ADR added 20 cents to $3.40. However Redf, the Rediff.com ADR shed 5 cents to $2.41.

Telecom stocks were weak. VSL, the VSNL ADR dropped 5 cents to $3.20 and MTE, the MTNL ADR eased 4 cents to $4.11.

Among banking stocks, IBN, the ICICI Bank ADR gained 25 cents to $6.73 and HDB, the HDFC Bank jumped 27 cents to $15.37. Pharma major RDY, the Dr Reddy
