Madras Cements gains 3% on disinvestment buzz

BSEMadras Cements is trading higher by 3% at Rs 84.85 in an otherwise weak market on reports of disinvestment of its Bengal unit.

“The company is holding talks with European giants Lafarge and Holcim to divest its cement grinding unit in West Bengal for around Rs 350 crore,” the newspaper report suggests.

The stock opened at Rs 84.95 and hit a high of Rs 86.25 on the NSE. A total of 177,132 shares have changed hands on the counter till 1047 hours, against an average around 61,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.
