The government will continue maize exports on a regular basis to maintain the brand equity in the international market, minister of consumer affairs and public distribution Shanta Kumar said.
Recently, the Centre had taken a decision to allow exports of the commodity in view of the buffer stocks of nearly 10 lakh tonnes.
Kumar stated in order to increase the production and productivity of maize in the country, the government was undertaking various measures including development of varieties with quality protein, implementation of a centrally-sponsored scheme in all maize potential districts and technology transfer to benefit maize growers.
