Maize prices declined by Rs 12 or 1.19 per cent to Rs 999 per quintal in futures trade today on ample stocks position, amid sluggish demand in physical markets.
Marketmen said increased supply from the producing regions against reduced offtake in spot markets, pulled down the maize prices in futures trading.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, maize prices for current June-month contract fell by Rs 12 or 1.19 per cent to Rs 999 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,700 lots.
The delivery for far September contract also eased by Rs 2 or 0.20 per cent to Rs 1,008 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,110 lots.
