Maize futures ease on selling pressure

Maize prices softened by Rs 9 or 0.90 per cent to Rs 993 per quintal in futures trade today on ample stocks position amid sluggish demand in spot markets.

Marketmen said increased supply and reduced offtake in spot markets, mainly pulled down the futures prices of maize.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, maize prices for current June-month contract fell by Rs 9 or 0.90 per cent to Rs 993 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,750 lots.

Most-active July contract delivery also shed Rs 8 or 0.79 per cent to Rs 1,006 per quintal, with an open interest of 11,890 lots.
