Maize extended gains by Rs 16.50 to Rs 1,274.50 per quintal in future trade today following renewed buying by traders, buoyed by firm spot market cues.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, maize for delivery in June moved up further by Rs 16.50, or 1.31% to Rs 1,274.50, with a business turnover of 10,390 lots.

Similarly, its prices for delivery in May advanced by Rs 15, or 1.21% at Rs 1,252 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,780 lots.

Market analysts said besides spot demand, low inventories due to fall in supplies from producing regions influenced maize prices at futures trade.
