Maize prices declined by Rs 7.50, or 0.71 per cent, to Rs 1,054.50 per quintal in futures trading today on emergence of profit taking by traders at the existing higher levels.
Marketmen said speculators preferred to book profits at every rise.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, maize prices for current-month August contract slipped by Rs 7.50, or 0.71 per cent, to Rs 1,054.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 12,410 lots.
Near September-month contract lowered by Rs 5, or 0.49 per cent to Rs 1,008 per quintal, with an open interest of 9,640 lots.
