The market is continuing its upward trend and has registered an intra-day high of 18,124. The Sensex continues to hover around this new high. After two days, the smallcap index and the midcap index has outperformed the benchmark index once again. The smallcap indec at 9,56, is up 1.4% and the midcap index is up 1.1% at 7,622. The benchmark index, on the other hand is up 0.8%.
476 scrips have advanced while 43 have declined in the smallcap space. The movers here are Vindhya Telelinks up 16%, AP Paper adding 12% and Maharashtra Polybutenes gaining nearly 9%. In the midcap space, 248 scrips have advanced while 23 scprips have declined. STC up 6.5% followed by State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur adding 6%, State Bank of Mysore gaining 5% and Shriram City Union Finance up nearly 5%.
ON the BSE sectoral indices, allthe indices are in the green. Consumer Durables up 1.8% leads the charts followed by Realty, Metal and Teck. The least gainer on the chart is yesterday's grosser FMCG at 0.3%. Health Care, Power and Capital Goods too are at the bottom of the list.Bajaj Electricals up 5% followed by Gitanjali Gems and VIP Industries adding 3% and 2% resprectively are the movers in the Consumer Durables space.Godrej Constructions up 2.5% and Ruchi Soya adding 2%,Dabur India and United Spirits gaining 0.8% each are the gainers in the FMCG index.
Reliance Communications up nearly 3% is the top gainer on the Sensex. Bharti Airtel adding 2%, Tata Steel and DLF up 1.5%, Sterlite, Maruti Suzuki up 1.4% each are the other major gainers.
Hero Honda down 0.8% and ONGC shedding 0.1% are the onlt losers on the Sensex.
The market breadth continues to be positive. 2029 stocks have advanced while 496 have declined.
