After a good opening, the markets continue to move higher. A new inra-day high of 19,422, 204 points up from the opening has been registered. In the broader market space, the smallcap index and the midcap index at 0.6% each is underperforming the bechmark index at 1%.
Among the sectoral indices on the BSE, Auto index leads the pack at 2% followed by IT, Teck, Metal and Bankex.The least gainers in the morning trades are FMCG, Consumer Durables and Oil & Gas. The movers in the Auto space are Tata Motors and Maruti Suzuki up 3% each, Mahindra & Mahindra, Exide,Bajaj Auto and Ashok Leyland gaining 2% each.
Other than the Auto scrips, the gainers on the Sensex are Sterlite up 3%, HDFC Bank,Mahindra & Mahindra,Reliance Infrastructure,HDFC,Wipro and Jaiprakash Associates gaining 2% each.
ACC down nearly 1%, Hindalco, SBI and Jindal Steel shedding 0.2% each are the losers on the Sensex.
Market breadth is positive. 1377 stocks have advanced while 1172 have declined.
