After a quiet opening, the Sensex has moved higher to touch an intra-day high of 19,559 and continues to hover around the same. The Nifty is flat at 5,862. The broader markets have sprung up after underperforming yesterday. The smallcap index is up 0.4% and the midcap index has gained 0.2% as compared to the benchmark index at 0.1%.
In the smallcap space, 289 scrips have advanced while 202 secrips have declined. The movers here are Resurgere Mines ip 19% for the second consecutive day followed by Shristi Infrastructure adding nearly 10% and Provogue India, Oscar Investments gaining 8% each.
On the BSE sectoral indices, FMCG up 1% continues to lead followed by Bankex, PSU and Oil & Gas.Realty, Teck and IT continues to languish at the bottom of the charts, while Metal and Auto has improved its gains and has moved ahead after a negative opening.
The gainers in the Sensex-30 stocks are SBI (Rs 3219) up 2%, Hindustan Unilever (Rs 280)and ICICI Bank (Rs 1108)adding 1%. Hero Honda (Rs 1754), Tata Steel (Rs 608),ITC (Rs 168) and Tata Power (Rs 1278) gaining 0.7% each are the other significant gainers.
The losers on the Sensex are TCS (Rs 898), Infosys (Rs 3001), Sterlite (Rs 172) down 1% each. Mahindra & Mahindra (Rs 672), Jaiprakash Associates (Rs 124), BHEL (Rs 2465) and DLF (Rs 339) shedding 0.4% - 0.6%.
