Market at day's low

After a weak opening, the markets have slipped to touch an intra - day low of 20,208 and continues to hover around the same. The Nifty too shed 44 points and is down at 6,091. The broader markets too slipped. The midcap index has moved into the negative, down 0.2% and the smallcap index has managed to hold its gains at 0.1%. The benchmark index continues to underperform at 0.6% in the negative.

In the smallcap space, 230 stocks have advanced while 285 have declined. The gainers are Arshiya International up 11%, Binani Industries, Force Motors gaining 9% and Spanco and TTK Healthcare adding 6% each. 106 scrips have gone north as compared to 167 scrips headed south in the midcap index. The draggers here are CMC down nearly 5%, National Fertilizers, Info Edge India and India Infoline ahedding nearly 3% each.

Among the BSE sectoral indices, IT and Teck has rebounded while initial gainer Auto index has pared its gains at 0.1%. All the other indices continue to be in the negative. The biggest draggers are FMCG, Metal and Consumer Durables indices.

Gainers (BSE): Wipro up nearly 2% is the top gainer followed by TCS, Tata Motors, Sterlite and     ICICI Bank gaining 1% each.

Losers (BSE): HDFC, Hindalco and ITC down nearly 2% each are the top losers. L&T, Tata Steel, NTPC,Jindal Steel,Reliance Infrastructure,Jaiprakash Associates and HDFC Bank shedding 1% each.

 

The market breadth is negative. 1292 stocks have declined while 1111 have advanced.
