Market firm; Sensex up around 300pts

The Sensex is now up 304 points at 11,251. Earlier in the day the index opened at 11,067, up 121 points.

Jaiprakash Associates has surged 7% to Rs 121. Reliance Infrastructure has rallied 6.5% to Rs 686.

SBI has gained 6% to Rs 1,332. ICICI Bank, Larsen & Toubro and DLF have gone up 5% each to Rs 449, Rs 873 and Rs 246, respectively.

Infosys, Reliance Communications, HDFC, NTPC, Tata Steel and TCS have advanced 3-4.5% each.

On the other hand, Sun Pharma has shed over 1.5% to Rs 1,216. Maruti Suzuki and ITC have also declined.

The market breadth is fairly positive. Out of 2,432 stocks traded, 1,661 have advanced while 720 have declined. The rest are unchanged.
