Market gains momentum

The market has gradually picked up momentum from its steady opening following extended buying in select counters.

The Sensex, which touched a high of 6,269, is now up 39 points at 6,256. The Nifty has moved up 11 points to 1,932.

Reliance is up with a steady gain of Rs 2 at Rs 542. HLL has inched up by 1.21% (Rs 2) to Rs 134. ITC has moved up a per cent (Rs 12) to Rs 1,426.

Infosys has clocked a per cent gain (Rs 14) to Rs 1,916. Other tech majors are trading on a divergent note.

SBI and ICICI Bank are up a per cent each at Rs 603 (up Rs 5) and Rs 367 (up Rs 3), respectively.

Bharti has gained 2.11% (Rs 4) to Rs 215, and HPCL has added 1.48% (Rs 5) to Rs 319. L&T has gained 1.50% (Rs 14) to Rs 982.

Ranbaxy has surged 2.48% (Rs 23) to Rs 935. Other pharma stocks are trading with tepid gains.

Hero Honda is up a per cent (Rs 5) at Rs 519, while other auto pivotals are exhibiting a mixed trend.
