TCS: Tata Consultancy Services' (TCS) Q1 FY22 performance missed estimates even as the net profit jumped 28.5 per cent YoY to Rs 9,008 crore and revenue rose 18.5 per cent YoY to Rs 45,411 crore. Rupee declines by 9 paise to 74.71; extends losses for 3rd day
Falling for the third day in a row, the rupee weakened further by 9 paise to end at 74.71 against the US currency on Thursday as weaker domestic equities weighed on the forex market sentiment. The US dollar traded strong against other Asian currencies after the minutes from the last Federal Reserve meeting indicated a tighter monetary policy ahead.

Oil mixed as US inventories draw offset by OPEC+ standoff
Oil prices were mixed on Friday after a boost from a drop in U.S. crude and gasoline inventories, but were still set for a weekly decline on concerns that an OPEC+ impasse could swell global crude supplies. Brent crude oil futures were down 9 cents, or 0.1%, at $74.03 a barrel. US West Texas Intermediate futures were up 1 cent at $72.95 a barrel.

Asian markets off to shaky start
Asian shares followed US equities lower on Friday on growing anxiety that the spread of Covid-19 variants could hamper the global economic recovery. Japan’s Topix index retreated 1.8%, Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 index lost 1.3% and South Korea’s Kospi index shed 1.6%.

Wall Street lost ground on Thursday, with the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq pulling back from record closing highs in a broad sell-off driven by uncertainties surrounding the pace of the US economic recovery. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.75%, the S&P 500 lost 0.86% and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.72%.
