PSU banks extend rally; SBI surges 15% in one week on strong Q2 results

Shares of public sector undertaking (PSU) banks continued their rally and were trading higher for the fifth straight session on Thursday. In the past one week, Nifty PSU Bank index has gained 12 per cent, as against a 3 per cent rise in the Nifty 50 index.

 

At 10:55 am, Nifty PSU Bank index, the largest gainer among all sectoral indices, was up 3.4 per cent, as compared to a 0.63 per cent rise in the Nifty 50 index. Nifty Bank and Nifty Private Bank indices, too, were up 0.88 per cent and 0.44 per cent, respectively. READ MORE

Telecom stocks in focus: Voda Idea hits record low, Bharti Airtel dips 1%

Vodafone Idea hit a fresh all-time low of Rs 3.48 apiece, down 8.6 per cent in the intra-day deals, after rating agency CARE downgraded its long-term loans and debentures ratings from “A” to “A-”. The agency also paced the rating "under watch with negative implications". The stock breached its previous low of Rs 3.66 touched on October 25. READ MORE

JK Tyre jumps 14% as Q2 net profit surges over three-fold to Rs 168 crore

Shares of JK Tyre & Industries surged as much as 13.87 per cent to Rs 80 apiece on the BSE in the early morning deals on Thursday. The company on Wednesday reported over three-fold jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 167.70 crore in the September quarter driven by gains from deferred tax liability. RPG Life Sciences zooms 20% as PBT jumps four-fold in Q2

Shares of RPG Life Sciences were locked in the upper circuit band of 20 per cent at Rs 255 on the BSE on Thursday after the company’s profit before tax (PBT) jumped four-fold to Rs 12.04 crore in the September quarter of FY20 (Q2FY20).
