M&M says likely to conclude deal to sell stake in Ssangyong by Feb end

Mahindra and Mahindra said is in the final stages of getting a buyer on board for its ailing Korean subsidiary Ssangyong Motor Co (SYMC) and is likely to conclude the deal by February end, company’s top officials told reporters on Friday. “We may sign a term sheet for SYMC next week. The deal is more or less agreed. We will conclude it by February 28, if everything goes as per the plan,” Pawan Goenka, managing director and CEO said. Post the sale, Mahindra will hold less than 30 per cent equity in the maker of Rexton and Tivoli SUVs, said Goenka. READ MORE

Capex slowdown: New projects decline 88.6% over Coronavirus pandemic

New projects involving setting up of factories, buildings and other assets fell to their lowest levels since the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic began. While there were Rs 7.01 trillion worth of new assets in December 2019, this fell 88.6 per cent to Rs 80,000 crore for the three months ending December 2020, shows data from project tracker Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE). Power consumption grows 6.1% in December

India's power consumption grew by 6.1 per cent to 107.3 billion units (BU) in December, showing spurt in economic activities, according to official data. Power consumption in December 2019 was 101.08 BU. After a gap of six months, power consumption recorded a year-on-year growth of 4.5 per cent in September and 11.6 per cent in October. Industrial biotechnology company Praj Industries on Friday said it has bagged a Rs 226.90 crore order from Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL). In a regulatory filing the company said the Rs 226.90 crore order from Indian Oil Corporation is for "execution of zero liquid discharge system - water treatment package and waste water treatment package of Acrylic/Oxo-Alcohol Project at IOCL Dumad, Gujarat". RBI to conduct simultaneous sale-purchase of govt securities on Jan 7

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will conduct simultaneous purchase and sale of government securities under open market operations (OMOs) for Rs 10,000 crore each on January 7. The decision was taken after a review of current liquidity and financial conditions, the RBI said in a statement.
