Trident extends gain, surges 13% in two days

Shares of Trident were up 5 per cent to Rs 74.50 on Tuesday, surging 13 per cent in past two days on the back of heavy volumes in an otherwise subdued market. The textile company's stock is trading close to its 52-week high of Rs 75.60, touched on January 15, 2019. Till 09:45 am, a combined 1.35 million equity shares changed hands on the counter on the NSE and BSE. In comparison, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 0.15 per cent at 40,742 points. READ MORE

Metals decline as US restores tariffs on imports from Brazil, Argentina

Metal stocks such as Jindal Steel, Tata Steel, NMDC, and Vedanta declined in the early mornig trade on the NSE on Tuesday after US President Donald Trump "restored" tariffs on all steel and aluminium products imported from Brazil and Argentina. In a tweet on Monday, Trump said that Brazil and Argentina had been presiding over a "massive devaluation of their currencies", which was not good for the US farmers. READ MORE

Biocon climbs 5% on launch of Ogivri biosimilar in US market

Shares of Biocon, the biopharmaceutical major, climbed as much as 4.8 per cent to Rs 299.70 apiece on the BSE after the company launched Trastuzumab biosimilar Ogivri in the US market. Ogivri, a biosimilar to Herceptin, has been co-developed by Biocon Biologics and Mylan and will be available in 150 mg and 420 mg strengths. READ MORE
