Market on fire; Sensex surges 184pts

The Sensex scaled to a high of 9430, and is now up 184 points at 9422.

BHEL, Hindalco and Wipro have surged 5% each to Rs 1,541, Rs 160 and Rs 484, respectively.

Bharti Tele has rallied nearly 4% to Rs 342.

Tata Motors at Rs 638 and Reliance Energy at Rs 619 have spurted over 3% each.

Tata Steel, Satyam, Larsen & Toubro, HDFC, Infosys, Maruti, NTPC and ICICI Bank are up 2-3% each.

TCS, SBI, ITC, Tata Power, Hero Honda and ONGC have also posted smart gains.

HDFC Bank has declined 1% to Rs 729. Ranbaxy is down 0.5% at Rs 382.

Out of 2,536 stocks traded so far, 1,956 have advanced, 529 have declined and the rest are unmoved.

Reliance tops the value chart with a turnover of Rs 260.37 crore followed by ONGC (Rs 166.75 crore), Reliance Capital (Rs 71.86 crore), Titan (Rs 68.69 crore) and Era Constructions (Rs 65.56 crore).

Rana Sugars leads the volume chart with trades of around 74.12 lakh shares followed by Gayatri Sugar (58.66 lakh shares), PBA Infrastructure (42.65 lakh shares), SAIL (40.18 lakh shares) and Reliance (37.47 lakh shares).
