India's vegetable oils imports in the month of March 2013 increased by 23.2% to 8.96lakh tons, as compared to 7.27lakh tons in March 2012.

Arrivals of chilli crop declined further between 25,000-30,000 bags, as trading activity remained dull due to Guntur Merchant Association election on Saturday. Spot rates were quoted steady at '55-'60 per kg, based on crop quality.

Arrivals of jeera crop stood declined to about 40,000 bags while trades too were down ~30,000 bags at auctions held at Unjha market. Spot rates were steady & quoted at '130-'132 per kg as Unjha market, as per local traders.

Spot rates of pepper garbled were unchanged '362 per kg and that of un-garbled was steady at '347 per kg while arrivals declined to 22 tons & trades were down at 20 tons at auctions held at Kochi market, as per IPSTA.
 
Arrivals of turmeric crop stood ~12,000 bags at Nizamabad, while supply at mandis of Erode increased to more than 7,000 bags. Spot rates were quoted at '58-'61 per kg, as per local traders. Sangli market was closed on Friday.

Average price of small cardamom declined to '628.1 per kg while maximum price offered was down at '848 per kg, as per spice board. Total inflow of small cardamom crop declined to 44 tons from which ~41.6 tons were sold at GHCM auction.

Arrivals of Soya bean crop increased to more than 50,000 bags at MP market & about 1,500 bag at Indore mandis while supply across mandis of Rajasthan stood ~15,000 & at mandis of Maharashtra ~20,000 bags, as per trade reports.

Spot rates of soya bean seed Indore (ex-mandi) closed at '40 per kg while that of mustard seed Rajasthan closed up at '35 per kg, as per SEA of India.

Total import consist of 8.5lakh tons of edible oils and 0.45lakh tons of non-edible oils.

The overall import of vegetable oils during Nov'12-Mar'13 increased by 22.2% to 46.31lakh tons compared to 37.89lakh tons in the same period last year, as per Solvent Extractors' Association of India.

Guar seed arrivals increased to 31,910 quintals, while the average of the closing spot rates were up at '9,927.1 per quintal.

Inflow of mustard seed crop declined to 200,040 quintals, while average of closing spot rates were up at '3,178.2 per quintal, as per agriculture marketing board of Rajasthan.

Mentha oil futures traded positively, mainly supported by short-covering/ buying support at lower levels. Spot rates too were up by '10-'15 per kg & arrivals steady around 150-160 drums on a daily basis.
