The company is said to be in negotiations with three private equity firms for buying the stake and, if it succeeds it will become the biggest player in the fast-growing Indian mobile market, ahead of Bharti Airtel.
The company is concentrating on the expansion of GSM business after taking a dominant position in the CDMA business.
