Things have got better for the markets, albeit marginally, in the past one hour. After going nowhere for a predominant part of this trading session, the BSE Sensex has shown some signs of life by breaking out of its self-imposed range. The Sensex is now quoting at 17977, higher by 99 points and the Nifty is at 5397, up 29 points.
M&M remains at the top of the gainers charts, racing ahead by 2.9% at Rs 620, on the NSE. And the metal stocks have brightened further as LMEX, a gauge of six metals traded on the London Metal Exchange gained 1.6% to 3,046 in London on Tuesday. Tata Steel has added 2.3% at Rs 523, Sterlite has added 2.5% at Rs 173 and Sail has added 2.3% at Rs 203.
On the other hand, Axis Bank has weakened by 1.5% at Rs 1348, ABB has shed 0.9% at Rs 849 and HDFC has lost 0.8% at Rs 2988.
