Markets calm in noon trades

The Sensex is quoting at 17084, weaker by 19 points and the Nifty is at 5,112, down 11 points.

The markets have been lacklustre in the past hour. The Sensex is quoting at 170181, weaker by 20 points and the Nifty is at 5,112, down 11 points.
 
The top losers on the Sensex are Tata Motors (shed 3.2% to Rs 770), Jaiprakash Associates (weakened by 2.3% at Rs 144) and Hero Honda (dropped 2% to Rs 1,875.

Bharti Airtel, DLF and Hindalco are the other major losers.

Meanwhile, TCS has strengthened by 1.8% at Rs 775, Wipro has added 1.4% at Rs 707 and M&M is up 1.3% at Rs 11370.

 

The market breadth is fairly negative. Out of 2,665 stocks traded on the BSE, there are 1,034 advancing stocks as against 1544 declines.

Following the stake sale by Daimler, Tata Motors topped the value charts on the BSE with a total turnover of Rs 2971.35 crore.
