Domestic markets on Friday clocked their fourth straight weekly gain amid positive global investor sentiment.

Benchmark Sensex gained 0.6 per cent, led by gains in HDFC Bank and Sun Pharmaceuticals.

The index has gained 5.3 per cent in the past four weeks.

The broad-market BSE 500 index on Friday touched an all-time high on an intra-day basis, but failed to register a new closing high by a whisker.

The BSE 500 index too has gained six per cent in the past four weeks.

Technical analysts say Nifty faces an important resistance of 8,870, which if broken could take the index to 9,000 levels.
