Markets consolidating at higher levels

The markets after the early morning recovery are now consolidating at higher levels. The Sensex touched a high of 17,184, and is now up 107 points at 17,159.

The BSE Oil & Gas index has rallied 1.8% to 9,820, and the auto index is up nearly 1% at 7,686.

The NSE Nifty is up 27 points at 5,128.

Reliance has moved up 2.7% to Rs 1,017, and Tata Motors has gained 2.3% at Rs 789.

Tata Power has advanced nearly 2% to Rs 1,358. Jaiprakash Associates and ACC have added around 1.5% each to Rs 146 and Rs 1,003.

Hero Honda, BHEL, Hindalco and HDFC are up over 1% each.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,624 stocks traded so far, 1,515 have advanced, 1,015 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
