Markets continue strong trade

After Thursday's volatile session, markets today have gained in morning trades.

The Sensex touched a high of 16,871 and is now up 185 points at 16,851.

The Nifty is up 50 points at 5,053.

Global markets have also shown positive movement with the Dow ending with a gain of 2.8% at 10,259. The Nasdaq added 3.7% in trades.

BSE sectoral indices have gained. Metal index has gained 3.6% at 15,115. The realty index has also jumped 3.2% to 3,103. FMCG, auto and power are the other big gainers at the moment.

Sterlite has rallied 4% to Rs 670. Jindal Steel has jumped 3.5% to Rs 645. Hindalco and Tata Steel have gained 2.5% each at Rs 152 and Rs 504.

 

DLF has rallied 2.7% to Rs 278. Jaiprakash Associates has added 2% to Rs 126. Reliance Infrastructure has advanced 1% to Rs 1,067.

ITC, Mahindra & Mahindra, HDFC, ACC, ONGC and Tata Motors have added around 1% each.

However, Maruti has slipped marginally into red. The stock is now down 0.4% at Rs 1,227. TCS is flat at Rs 739.

BSE market breadth is positive. Out of 2,320 stocks traded, 1,820 have advanced while 428 have declined.
