Markets continue to be negative

The sensex is down 99 points at 20,203 and the NIfty has shed 27 points at 6,078

The markets continue to trade in the negative zone, Sensex is down 67 points at 20,235 and Nifty is lower by 17 points at 6087.

Meanwhile, the European markets are also trading lower by nearly 1% each, the frenh CAC index is down 26 points at 3843 and FTSE is down 37 points at 5716. Most of the Asian markets ended the day in the red, Nikkei ended at 9377 down 23 points, Shanghai closed at 3041 lower by 10 points and the Hang Seng is also lower by 26 points at 23,601.

Backhome, Bharti Airtel leads the Sensex losers charts, down nearly 2% at Rs 330 followed by Tata Steel, State Bank of India and Hindalco Industries down more than 1.5% each. Maruti Suzuki is the top gainer among the Sensex stocks followed by ITC, DLF, J P Associates and Mahindra & Mahindra.

Among the sectoral indices, Consumer Durables index is the top gainer up 1.8% or 118 points at 6579, followed by Auto, FMCG and Reaklty indices. However Metal index has shed 184 points at 17,023 followed by Bankex and Healthcare indices.

Among the Metal stocks Tata Steel is the top loser followed by Hindalco Industries, JSW Steel, Sterlite Industries and Jindal Steel.
