After touching the day's low of 20,233, the markets have inched ahead. The Sensex is down 47 points at 20,255 while the Nifty lost 13 points to be at 6,092. However, the broader markets continue to be in the positive territory. The smallcap index is up 0.4% while the midcap index has turned flat at 8,490. Meanwhile, the benchmark index continues to trade in the red, down 0.2%
On the BSE sectoral indices, Consumer Durabled up 1.5% followed by Auto and FMCG gaining 0.7% and 0.5% respectively are the only indices in the green. Bankex and Metal down 0.6% each are the biggest losers on the chart.
Maruti Suzuki up 2.5%, Jaiprakash Associates, ITC, Cipla and Mahindra & Mahindra adding 1% each are the top gainers on the Sensex.
Hindustan Unilever, Hindalco own 1.5% are the biggest losers on the Sensex. ONGC,Sterlite, Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel, SBI and TCS shedding 1% each are the other prominent losers.
Market breadth continues to be marginally positive. 1495 stocks have advanced while 1318 have declined.
