Markets continue trading firm

Markets continue to trade in green, albeit off the day's highs. The Sensex after touching a high of 20,452 is no up 223 points - at 20,389.

Nifty is up 65 points at 6,131.

Markets may turn volatile this week, ahead of the rollovers expiry on Thursday.

Asian stocks edged higher after global finance leaders vowed to avoid potentially debilitating currency devaluations. Hang Seng has gained 1% at 23,738. Taiwan Weighted has rallied 1.7% to 8,307.

Consumer durables index continues to hold gains. The index is up 2.6% at 6,477. Gitanjali Gems, Blue Star, Rajesh Exports, Whirlpool and Titan Industries are among the big gainers.

Hindalco has gained 4% at Rs 221. Sterlite has added 3% to Rs 173. NTPC and Tata Steel have advanced 1.7% each.

HDFC, ACC, DLF, TCS and Cipla and ICICI Bank are also in green. Hindustan Unilever has added 1.4% to Rs 306 ahead of its quarterly results.
