Markets extend losses

The Sensex has extended losses and is now quoting at 16,958, down 240 points, while the Nifty is down 66 points at 5,041. Banking, FMCG and realty stocks are the major culprits

Tata Steel has plunged 4% to Rs 539. Tata Motors has shed 3.5% at Rs 620 and ICICI Bank has given up 3.1% at Rs 871. SBI has dropped nearly 2.4% to Rs 2,265 and ITC has slipped 2.2% to Rs 262.

Hindalco has moved up 1.7% to Rs 137. Bharti Airtel has added 1.3% to Rs 285 and ACC has put on 1.3% at Rs 804.

Reliance is trading down at Rs 1,092 after going  ex-bonus.

 

The market breadth is negative. Out of 2,734 stocks traded so far, 1,763 stocks advanced and 895 declined thus far.
