Markets flat in early trades

RCom shines on Rel Infratel demerger plans; Sterlite, Wipro also move up

The markets have opened on a flat note mirroring the global trend. The Sensex is up five points at 17,341, and the Nifty is up two points at 5,199.

Elsewhere in Asia, the Nikkei and Hang Seng too are trading on an extremely flat note after the US markets pared gains and ended flat.

Reliance Communications is the major mover in early trades, up 3% at Rs 184 following its decision to demerge its tower arm.

Sterlite has gained 2.6% at Rs 670. Wipro, is traded at the ex-bonus price, and is up over 2% at Rs 413.

Reliance Infrastructure, Hindalco and Tata Steel are the other major gainers.

TCS has slipped 1.7% to Rs 767. Bharti Airtel and ONGC are the other notable losers.
