Markets have a good start

Owing to the positive news from the global front, the Indian markets too had a good start. The Sensex opened 143 points up at 18,349 and the Nifty has gained 40 points and is at 5,511.The smallcap indix is up 0.6% at 9,752 while the midcap index has added 56 points or 0.7% at 7,761.

In the US markets overnight,Wall Street posted its best day in eight weeks as investor mood brightened after better-than-expected factory data from the United States and China.The Dow Jones  rose 254.75 points, or 2.5% to 10,269. The Nasdaq gained 63 points, or 3% to 2,177. Mirroring gains in the US markets, the Asian markets too openend in the green. The Hang Seng has jumped 1.2% at 20,871 while the Nikkei  gained 1.2% at 9,036.

 

All the sectoral indices are in the green in the opening trades.Realty and Metal up 1% each lead the chart followed by Bankex , Capital goods and Auto. FMCG and IT up 0.4% are the least gainers.

Jaiprakash Associates up nearly 3% is the top gainer on the Sensex followed by Sterlite, DLF, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel and HDFC Bank adding 1% each.

The losers on the Sensex are Infosys and Hero Honda down 0.3% each, Reliance Infrastructure, Jindal Steel and     Hindustan Unilever down 0.03%- 0.1% round up the list.

The market breadth is positive. 1394 stocks have advanced while 325 have declined.
