Markets have a good start

In sync with the Asian markets, the Indian markets too opened on a positive note. The Sensex opened 122 points higher at 20,167 while the Nifty added 31 points at 6,049.In the broader markets, the smallcap index has opened higher by 0.8% at 10,307 and the midcap index started at 8,159, up 0.7%. The benchmark index is underperforming at 0.6%

Earlier, the Asian markets too opened in the green.The Hang Seng had jumped 1% to 22,353. Nikkei had gained 1.5% at 9,606 after exporters like Canon jumped on a smart move in US markets on Friday.

Among the sectoral indices, Realty leads the pack, up 1.2% closely followed by Oil & Gas at 1%, Metal and Capital Goods. The laggards in the the oening trades are IT, Teck and FMCG.

 

The gainers on the Sensex are L&T, Cipla, RIL,ICICI Bank and Tata Steel up 1% each followed by Sterlite, Wipro,Jaiprakash Associates and
Jindal Steel adding 0.8%.

On the losers side are HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel,Hero Honda and HDFC down 3% each.Infosys and Hindustan Unilever shedding 0.2% round off the list.

The market breadth is positive.1489 stocks have gained while 467 have declined.
