Markets in consolidation mode

The Sensex ended at 17092, higher by 39 points and the Nifty shut at 5115, up 14 points (provisional closing).

The markets are up marginally and the index  is now at 17,090. up 37 points. The NSE Nifty is at 5,113, up 15 points.

Among the Sensex-30 pack stocks, Hero Honda, Reliance and ACC have advanced over 2% each to Rs 1,923, Rs 1,011 and Rs 1,006, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates, TCS, HDFC and HUL have advanced over 1.5% each to Rs 145, Rs 784, Rs 2,703 and Rs 238, respectively.

NTPC and ICICI Bank have slipped 1% to Rs 200 and Rs 915, respectively.

The market breadth is negative, out of 2,872 shares traded, 2,872 shares traded, 1,627 have declined and 1,155 have advanced so far on the BSE.

Among the sectoral indices, oil & gas indices and FMCG indices have added 1% each on the BSE.
