Markets lacklustre in early trades

Markets opened positive on cues from Asian peers. The Sensex after opening at 16,042 touched a high of 16,136. However, the index soon started slipping.

The Sensex is now flat at 16,041.

The Nifty is at 4,800.

Bharti Airtel has dropped 1.5% to Rs 281. HDFC Bank has dipped marginally to Rs 1,603.

Meanwhile, Tata Motors has gained 2% in early trades to Rs 695. Tata Steel and Sterlite are up 1% each at Rs 543 and Rs 750, respectively.

 Asian markets have opened on a slightly positive note. The Nikkei is up 47 points at 10,060.
