Adani, Bharti, Bajaj lose most in percentage terms in latest market rout
 
Among the top 10 business groups in the country, Adani, Bharti and Bajaj have lost the most in percentage terms in the latest market rout. The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex has come off 11 per cent from its all-time high on August 28. In comparison, the value of promoter holding of Adani group companies is down 24 per cent or Rs 256 billion ($3.5 billion) and that of Bharti group is down nearly 20 per cent or Rs 253 billion. Eicher Motors’ shares are down by a fifth from their last month highs on worries of slowing sales, higher product costs, production disruption and rising competition. The key worry for the maker of Royal Enfield motorcycles is the near-term volume pressure. While fiscal year-to-date sales have been healthy at 13 per cent, the company recorded a growth of just two per cent in September. Pharma shares in focus; Dr Reddy's, Biocon, Lupin, Natco Pharma up over 3%
 
Shares of pharmaceutical were in focus in an otherwise subdued market on Monday with Nifty Pharma index gaining nearly 2% against 0.17% decline in the Nifty 50 at 09:36 am. Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Lupin, and Biocon from the index were up in the range of 3% to 4%, while, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Cipla, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Cadila Healthcare, Aurobindo Pharma and Divi’s Laboratories up between 1% and 2% on the NSE. In comparison, the Nifty Pharma index, the largest gainer among sectoral indices, was up 1.7% at 9,683 points. Read More

Shares of Hindustan Unilever (HUL) slipped as much as 3.23 per cent to Rs 1,511.40 apiece on Monday. The company announced its September quarter earnings on Friday where it reported a 19.51 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 15.25 billion. Sales came in at Rs 91.38 billion as against Rs 81.99 billion in the year-ago period, up 11.45 per cent. The FMCG major also posted a 10 per cent volume growth during the quarter, compared with 12 per cent growth in the immediately preceding quarter and four per cent a year ago. Read More

Avenue Supermarts falls 7% after margin disappointment
 
Shares of Avenue Supermarts, which runs the D-Mart supermarkets chain, dipped 7% to Rs 1,318 on the BSE in early morning after margin disappointment in the second quarter of current financial year 2018-19 (Q2FY19). The company’s EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization) margin declined 110 basis points at 8.0% in Q2FY19 as compared to 9.1% in Q2FY18, Avenue Supermarts said in a statement.
