MARKET WRAP: Sensex up 155 pts, Nifty ends at 10,772 led by IT, realty stks

Among the sectoral indices, the Nifty IT rose 1.1 per cent led by MindTree, Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The Nifty Realty, too, rose 1.2 per cent led by Godrej Properties and Sobha.

Oil check

Oil prices jumped around 1.5 per cent on Monday, pushed up by optimism that talks in Beijing can resolve a trade war between the United States and China, while supply cuts by major producers also supported crude. 

Brent crude futures were at $57.93 per barrel, up 87 cents, or 1.5 percent, from their last close. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil futures were at $48.76 per barrel, up 80 cents, or 1.7 per cent.

Real estate shares rally on hopes of GST rate cut

Shares of real estate companies have rallied by up to 20 per cent on the BSE on hopes of cut in the goods and services tax (GST) rate for under-construction and finished houses to 5 per cent. Ansal Properties & Infrastructure and Ansal Housing have locked in upper circuit of 20 per cent each. Parsvnath Developers, Ganesh Housing Corporation, Housing Development & Infrastructure (HDIL) and D B Realty were up between 7 per cent and 12 per cent on the BSE. Indiabulls Real Estate, Godrej Properties, Peninsula Land, Ashiana Housing, DLF, Anant Raj, Kolte-Patil Developers and Sobha were up in the range 3 per cent to 6 per cent. Read more

S&P removes IDBI Bank ratings from CreditWatch post LIC's capital infusion

Global Rating agency Standard and Poor's ( S&P) on Monday said the strain on IDBI Bank to meet regulatory capital requirement has eased after Life Insurance Corporation of India infused Rs 14,500 crore as fresh capital in ailing Indian banking entity.
 
"We are affirming our 'BB/B' foreign currency issuer credit ratings on the bank, and the 'BB' long-term issue rating on the notes issued by the bank's Dubai branch. We are removing the ratings from CreditWatch, where they were placed with negative implications on August 17, 2018," S&P said in a statement. Read more

MFs add Rs 1.24 trn to asset base in 2018 on SIP flows despite choppy mkts

Mutual funds have added a staggering Rs 1.24 trillion to their asset base in 2018 assisted by a consistent increase in SIP flows and a robust participation of retail investors despite volatile markets.
 
The asset under management (AUM) of the industry grew by 5.54 per cent or Rs 1.24 trillion to Rs 23.61 trillion at the end of December 2018, up from Rs 22.37 trillion at the end of December 2017, latest data available with the Association of Mutual Funds in India (Amfi) showed. READ MORE
